The Austin Anti-Declawing Bill. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Dr Gina Vance, President of the Capital Area Veterinary Medical Association, went on to say, “The decision to perform any veterinary treatment or therapy should be made by the pet owner and the veterinarian on a case-by-case basis within the context of a veterinary doctor client patient relationship.”

A Councilman asked Dr Vance, “Is elective declawing for non-medical reasons a treatment or therapy?”

Dr Gina Vance replied, “It can be considered a behavioral treatment.”
Dr Gina Vance also stated, “We try everything we can to talk people out of it.”

We Must Educate These Old-School Declawing Veterinarians

This is one of the many archaic, old-school declawing vets who needs to be educated about the facts about declawing. He must love cats since he has a cats only vet practice and even says, “We love them like you do” on his website.
Dr Carlin surely doesn’t realize that he is unwillingly mutilating so many cats and he needs our help. He is using declawing information from 1974.

Why We Must Ban Declawing And Protect ALL Cats From Being Mutilated!

September 10, 2018 This is a classic case of willful ignorance when it come to declawing. This cat owner is a perfect example of why we must ban declawing. A supporter that I trust, who has sent me many things over the years, sent me a video of a kitty who appeared to be declawed and was laying in a chair with a towel around his head and his feet in a bowl of water. His paws were wrapped in what appeared to be bandages but the cat wasn’t declawed. He was just sedated so that it could have its matted hair trimmed.

City the Kitty’s advocacy against declawing is entitled to the highest rung of First Amendment protection – ACLU

A declawing veterinarian in Michigan was the impetus in stripping a little cat’s first amendment right to free speech for 5 months. For the first time in history, the ACLU stepped in to help a cat get his first amendment right to free speech back.

Another Perspective About the Facts About Declawing

“First, let us reflect on the fact that the US is one of the few remaining modern countries that still allows this practice. It has actually been outlawed in most other countries, because of the physical and psychological effects it has on the animal. In most European countries, and Australia, you would actually lose your license to practice vet medicine if you were to perform this surgery, where it is uniformly viewed as unethical and inhumane.
