Did The Declawing Veterinarian on NVA’s Medical Advisory Board Make NVA’s Declawing Policy?
Did National Veterinary Associates (NVA) let the only declawing veterinarian on their Medical Advisory Board’s influence their declawing position that says their vets can declaw a cat if they deem it will benefit the cat?
HERE’S THE VERY CONCERNING AND DISTURBING PART. We did some more investigating and found that there are 8 veterinarians on NVA’s Medical Advisory Board. Link to their vets- NVA’s Medical Advisory Board veterinarians
We found that ONE of these NVA Medical Advisory Board veterinarians works at a practice that is still declawing cats and this Medical Advisory Board veterinarian personally regularly declaws cats, according to some employees who work there.
All of the other 7 veterinarians on NVA’s Medical Advisory Board DO NOT declaw cats and their practices say that it is inhumane and bad for cats, according to employees who work at these practices.

In the midst of a crisis where everyone is pulling together to save each other, many declawing veterinarians remain selfish.
In the midst of a crisis where everyone is pulling together to save each other, many declawing veterinarians remain selfish.. Despite worldwide efforts to conserve protective medical gear like surgical masks, gowns, and gloves, some declawing vets are still offering non-therapeutic surgeries in order to maintain their profits.
This selfish behavior risks infection with Covid19 in their staff, clients, and worst of all, hospital workers who are in desperate need of these limited resources.

Is This The Standard of Excellence In Veterinary Medicine? Advertising Cat Cruelty?
In June of 2017 a coupon showed up in resident’s mailboxes in the Crystal Lake area of Illinois. This coupon was from Randall Road Animal Hospital and had an offer for a 2 paw and 4 paw declaw.
Last year, in 2016, this hospital was accredited as an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) practice which means it has the highest standards of care in veterinary medicine. AAHA has a position statement on declawing that says they are “strongly opposes the declawing of domestic cats” and has 900 standards of care that these hospitals must follow, but not one for declawing. They go over these vet hospitals with a fine tooth comb but don’t care about how they address the mutilating procedure of declawing.

There are two rescues who want to get her out of the shelter and into a good home.
AVMA Veterinarian in IL deceives Clients About Declawing
It is OPTIONAL to get any pain meds for your cat and their declaw surgery. The only reason we declaw the back is if they have leather (furniture) and they are totally destroying them or if someone is on a blood thinner. But typically if they are just scratching at something , declawing the front two work out just fine.”
