PLEASE RESPECTFULLY SAY YOU SUPPORT THE DECLAWING BILL AND THAT DECLAWING IS VERY DETRIMENTAL TO CATS. Remember declawing doesn’t save kitty’s lives, it doesn’t save human lives, it doesn’t benefit a cat in any way, and there are always humane alternatives.
DECLAWED KITTIES SITTING IN SHELTERS AND RESCUES NEAR THE PRESIDENT OF THE NYSVMS’S PRACTICE, DR SUSAN WYLEGALA, AND THE 2015 PRESIDENT OF THE NYSVMS’S PRACTICE, DR DEAN SNYDER.
This week the NYSVMS President Dr Susan Wylegala sent out a Call to Action to all of her 5000 NY state veterinarians and told them that an amendment was quietly made to the declaw legislation late last night by our friends and allies , Senator Griffo and Assemblywoman Rosenthal.
This President told her “doctors” today that it is time for the NYSVMS members to come together and OPPOSE our Cat Protection Bill!!!
(This bill, if passed, would save ALL kitties from this unnecessary, cruel, and inhumane procedure. There are only 6 days left in the legislative session!)
This “leader” told the NYSVMS vets that our bill would ban cat declawing in NY and impose criminal penalties to anyone who performed this “surgical procedure.” She told them that their position is that the decision to declaw a cat should be made by the owner in consultation with their veterinarian and when necessary for medical or behavioral reason, should be used instead of abandonment or euthanasia. (We ALL know that declawing does NOT save the lives of kitties and it does NOT save human lives)
She told them that it’s an opportunity for all the NYSVMS vets to preserve their right as a licensed professional vet, to ensure they can make medical treatment decisions that are in the BEST INTERESTS OF THEIR PATIENTS.
She reminded them this is the first time in NY state history when lawmakers are considering legislation that would ban a “MEDICAL PROCEDURE” AND REMINDED THEM IT IS UNPRECEDENTED AND THEY NEED TO MAKE THOSE POINTS TO THE NYS legislature.
Today she reminded them again to call and that SHE HEARD THAT “MEMBERS ARE CALLING EN MASSE.”
The President, Dr Susan Wylegala, told all her NY veterinarian members today that the Senators need to hear from veterinarians why our bill is, “DETRIMENTAL TO ANIMALS AND THEIR OWNERS.”
FOLKS, THE BILL TO BAN DECLAWING IS BENEFICIAL TO ANIMALS BECA– USE IT WOULD STOP THIS INHUMANE AND UNNECESSARY MUTILATING PROCEDURE DONE TO CATS.
THE ONLY THING IT IS DETRIMENTAL TO IS THEIR POCKETBOOKS!!!
WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES SHE MEAN THAT OUR BILL THAT WOULD END THE TORTURE AND MUTILATION OF CAT’S PAWS WOULD BE “DETRIMENTAL TO ANIMALS????”
Here is a story about how this President of the NYSVMS and her officers address declawing at their practices. This might help you understand why they are fighting so very hard to stop our bill that is GOOD for cats but bad for their pocketbooks! The NYSVMS is trying to spin this bill to the legislators that it is a dangerous precedent to ban a “medical procedure” when we all know that declawing is a mutilating, harmful, and unnecessary elective procedure that is wrong. It is banned or considered unethical and mutilating in most of the rest of the world and it needs to be the same in NY and AMERICA!
WE MUST LET THESE LEGISLATORS KNOW THAT THERE IS NEVER A REASON TO DECLAW A CAT (The bill would allow for declawing if THERE WAS A TUMOR OR INJURY TO A CAT’S TOE OR CLAW!) The BEST INTERESTS FOR CATS (PATIENTS) is to NOT have their toes and claws amputated!
We MUST stop this evil from continuing and from these kind of “doctors” in New York from harming so many cats!!
