It’s a COUCH. It is replaceable. His claws are not.
I cannot find a “good” reason to declaw a cat.
If you cannot change your lifestyle in order to have a cat, you do not understand what cats require and you do not deserve to have one in your family.

Our vet told us that declawing should be done to be proactive. Never once did he mention he could teach us how to trim our cats nails. He didn’t offer a choice. He didn’t offer any education as to what the operation entailed. It was all so routine. Like it was just ‘what you did’.
We trusted our vet with the care of our babies. He hurt them and we didn’t even know it. What is even worse, is that he thinks he was providing a SERVICE to us.
I’ve not once had a vet explain to me the horrible side of declawing but they are quick to offer it as a “proactive solution”.

Our chat was back in the spring some time. You were kind enough to educate me and forever change my views on declawing as i truly has no idea what the procedure really was. So…. I’m happy to introduce you to my 8 year old rescue I got this week named Bubbles ? … she was rescued by our local spca from a horrific hoarding situation and i fell in love with her the moment i met her ❤❤ she is the most loving and cuddly cat i’ve ever met!
Declawing her will NEVER be an option thanks to you and I found a great solution i think you will be proud of…. thanks again for helping me understand what declawing is and leave it in the past.

Until declawing becomes illegal, we will never be able to stop it from happening. but I believe we can make a great reduction in incidences of it. As the SPCA is supposed to be a voice for animals that prevents cruelty I think this would be a great place to start. The SPCA places many cats into forever homes but without a no declaw contract they are failing to ensure the animal a life free of pain.

Bless you for educating Mouse’s owners on the alternatives to declawing and kudos to them for listening and choosing the right option to leave her toes intact. She is one lucky kitty.
Since her owners are such great pet parents, I would like to support and help them teach their baby proper feline manners. Having several scratch posts that appeal to Mouse will make a huge difference and is critical to their success.

(From Forbes) My friends, many of you are writing me about this cartoon that is circulating on the internet. Just to clear up any confusion,

Dear City,
Any veterinarian who does this (declawing) should be stripped of their doctorate, their practices should be shut down, massive fines need to be applied. Named and shamed, the owners especially, should be fined as well massive amounts of money and banned from ever owning another animal as long as they live .
They are disgraceful and pathetic and should be disgusted in themselves, the price these poor cats pay for the aesthetic pleasure that these owners apparently get is beyond unbalanced and completely unnecessary.

I live in a country, where toe amputation aka “declawing” was never thinkable or a part of our culture. When I was confronted the first time with this procedure, I really got shocked. What? They do this, although they are donating thousands of dollars to save a burned kitten? How is that possible?

That lovely lady there is Mufasa. She was my kitty soul mate. She crossed the rainbow bridge a long time ago, but I still miss her very much.

I received this awesome note and wanted to share it with all of you.
