Five Delaware veterinarians killed a 2022 Delaware anti-cruelty bill, which was written to protect cats by ending declawing, an inhumane and unnecessary amputation of cats’ toe bones.
Dr Michelle Crosier, owner of Companion Animal Veterinary Associates in Middletown, DE. She is a Fear Free Certified veterinarian.
Dr Erin Giebel Whaley, Dr Andrea Richter, and Dr Robert Pedigo, all associated with Savannah Animal Hospital. Lewes, DE which is an AAHA hospital that declaws cats. Dr Whaley is a co-owner of the hospital and Dr Pedigo and Dr Richter retired from Savannah Animal Hospital in November of 2021.
Dr Jan Sosnowski, NVA practice, Governor’s Avenue Animal Hospital, Dover, DE that declaws cats. According to 2 employees at this practice, Dr Sosnowski declaws cats. She is a Fear Free Certified veterinarian and Fear Free does not allow their vets or practices to declaw cats.
Thrive Pet Healthcare allows declawing in their stand alone clinics. Thrive Petco clnics do not perform declawing. Petco told us in 2018, “Please know that Petco and the Petco Foundation do not support the practice of declawing unless it is a medical necessity (for the cat).” Some of the Thrive Pet Healthcare practices don’t perform declawing and they say their doctors don’t think declaws are ethical or humane. Many other Thrive Pet Healthcare vet clinics routinely perform declawing and their employees say it is ok for a cat and some even ask if you want two or four paws declawed.
We looked into how the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association’s leaders address declawing at their vet practices.
City the Kitty is calling on animal lovers across the world to investigate the ASPCA on why they do not want declawing banned and why they have a declawing position statement that is on the side of declawing veterinarians and not cats.
If the ASPCA has a declawing position statement that completely condemns this animal cruelty (declawing) and helps pass laws to ban it, then more cats would be protected from this inhumane, cruel, and very harmful amputation procedure.
Rarebreed Veterinary Partners has around 40 veterinary practices with 800 employees.
Rarebreed says that their mission is to deliver exceptional care to pets, yet some of their practices perform declawing which is far from exceptional care for cats, is below the standard of care in veterinary medicine, and is animal cruelty.

If an animal hospital lies right up front to clients then how can anyone trust everything else they are doing? What keeps them from lying to you in person about your beloved pet? Why is this AAHA hospital promoting things on the front of their website that just aren’t true? AAHA has 900 standards of care for their accredited animal hospitals and AAHA allows declawing in their hospitals. Does AAHA also allow lies and deception?

This veterinarian, Dr Stan Carlin, is declawing cats by chopping part their their last toe bone off. He is declawing cats using the old school, guillotine clipper method as he explains here on his website. He says that this method is the right way to declaw a cat. He says that it is a humane option and says, “Declaw Gently” on his website.
NOMV supporters are trying to destroy our important mission to protect innocent cats from this cruel, inhumane, and barbaric amputation procedure by harassing us and bullying us and by accusing us of being a bully.
We are all about educating and shining light on the injustice of declawing. That’s it. We always take the high road and ask our supporters to do the same.
So the facts are that NOMV supporters who are attacking us are the cyber bullies, not us.
